Inter-American Symposium on Ethnography and Education 13/XIII Simposio Interamericano de Investigación Etnográfica de la Educación--a small conference at UCLA September 18-20, 2013, on anthropology of education by US, Canadian, and Latin American scholars. Theme: Majorities, Minorities and Migrations in Comparative Perspective.

Supported by the Education Research Conferences Program of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and co-sponsored by the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, DIE Cinvestav (México), Conacyt (México), Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (México), the UCLA Institute of American Cultures, the G.F. Kneller Endowment in Education and Anthropology, the UCLA Department of Anthropology, and the UCLA Migration Studies Group.

¡Bienvenidos! El XIII Simposio Interamericano de Investigación Etnográfica de la Educación se celebrará en la Universidad de California en Los Ángeles (UCLA), del 18 al 20 de septiembre, 2013, sobre el tema: “Mayorías, minorías y migraciones desde una perspectiva comparada.”
En esta ocasión, el formato del congreso incorporará la perspectiva comparativa al proponer que se organicen sesiones que incluyan a participantes de múltiples países, hablantes de inglés y español o portugués. También incluirá dos Conferencias Magistrales y dos Mesas invitadas sobre los temas del simposio.
Welcome! The 13th Inter-American Symposium on Ethnography and Education will take place at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, September 18-20, 2013, with the theme “Majorities, minorities and migrations in comparative perspective.”

We incorporate comparison into the structure of the Symposium by requiring that every session includes multiple countries and presentations in more than one language. The symposium will also include two Keynote lectures, and two Invited Roundtables on the themes of the symposium.

Sejam bem-vindos! O 13o Simpósio Inter-Americano sobre Etnografia e Educação será realizado na Universidade de California em Los Angeles (UCLA), entre os dias 18 a 20 de setembro de 2013, com o tema de “Maiorias, minorias e migrações em perspectiva comparativa.”
A estrutura do simpósio incorporará a comparação ao exigir que cada painel inclua apresentadores de vários países e apresentações em mais que uma língua. O Simpósio também incluirá dois oradores convidados e duas mesas redondas focalizadas nos temas principais do simpósio.
Bienvenus! Le 13ème Colloque Interamérican sur l’Ethnographie de l’Éducation aura lieu à UCLA, à Los Angeles, du 18 à 20 septembre 2013, sur la thématique “Les majorités, les minorités, les migrations en perspectif comparatative.”
On intégre de comparaison dans la structure même du colloque la en demandant que chaque conférence comprend des communications scientifiques originaires de divers pays et présentés dans diverses langues. Le colloque comprendra également deux conférences plénières et deux tables rondes invitées sur ses thèmes principaux.
